Do you know Big Lebowski? Yes? And his deadly erotic bowling opponent Jesus? Yes? Here in Barcelona, everyone is Jesus in three ways. Firstly: Barcelonians are vain. What they consider to be good taste sometimes far surpasses Jesus’ outfit. They move more gracefully and probably don’t have a faecal language anywhere near comparable. But they are all a little bit Jesus.

Visitors to Barcelona are also Jesus. I sneeze. Everyone calls me Jesus. I blow my nose with an illuminating grin. But the best thing of all is the wine: in Barcelona, wine is cheaper than water. So you can easily turn water into wine at any time by bartering. That makes every person in Barcelona a potential messiah.

On day three in Barcelona, I finally have some time to look round the city because I’m so busy learning Spanish and working. I heard a lot, read a lot. All the art, all the Catalan food, the architecture: everything has to fit into my two weeks here. We walk in a small group towards Barceloneta beach. A bank has been robbed. In front of it are TVs and black-clad smurfs from the Guardia Civil. The Barcelonians stare around like meerkats.

The beach is a hive of activity. The sun is high in the sky, the temperatures are still a bit low. New sculptures on every corner. Tapas here and cocktails there, Barcelonians enjoy themselves much more often than other people. After Switzerland, the food and drink is almost perversely cheap. On a German level. I sniff along the beach. There’s no kiting here in summer. But it’s winter. The forecast for the weekend is a whopping 24 knots…

On the way back, we stroll through the Barrio Gothico, the oldest part of Barcelona. Roman walls, Gothic cathedrals, neoclassical palaces, and life is bustling everywhere as if we were applying for a leading role in a film alongside Fred Astair. Skating kids, shopping matrons, laughing punks, drunken musicians, every corner is different. Barcelona is colourful.

Addendum: The recent continuation of the blog seems to be bringing strange characters back to my business website www.ff-webdesigner.de. Today I received a request for a link exchange that is as idiotic as it gets. The complete ingenious wording is herewith presented to the world for your amusement:

THE DREAM OF BIG MONEY – QUENCH YOUR THIRST FOR KNOWLEDGE. This is an INSANE THING and will definitely blow your imagination!

Do you want to earn a lot of money, e.g. via the Internet? Do you want to acquire an easily accessible part-time job without risk, where you will definitely make a profit? Do you want to become your own boss with little effort, work or pressure? Would you like to have more time for yourself, your friends and family? Can you really earn money while you sleep? Would you like to have questions of all kinds and about all situations in life answered? Would you like to find a solution to every problem? Would you like to slim down without doing any great somersaults? Do you need good recipes for invitations of all kinds? How can you revitalise your health?

The whole thing seems to me like an elaboration of Nachlader’s text “Money without work now!”. No, I’d like to get slim by hitting puzzle trees. So fast and for so long that the centrifugal force distributes my fat pads in all four directions (up, down, front, back). Meal time!
