I was lucky with the reef. On the second day of his holiday, an Australian caught his wife’s kite 5m from the beach. Result: 6cm long and 2cm deep coral cut in his foot. After half a litre of blood loss, it is clear: stitches are needed. Which means a week’s break from kiting until the evening. Luckily he’s only here for another six days :-)
I go out again in the afternoon for a downwinder with the boat. The wind is blowing at speeds of over 50 km/h. Metre-high waves crash over the boat. Sotos proves to me that even with the latest kites the depower can sometimes be too little. It pulls him over 1km almost into the reef. Meanwhile, I count the coral cuts in my shorts in the boat.
I really liked the Eclipse Thruster, it goes incredibly well upwind. I adjust my maximum bids upwards twice, but I stop at € 750. I’m rarely annoyed that I’m not rich as hell. Today it’s really bad.
On the evening of the last day on Nananu-i-Ra, I test my kite again directly on the kite beach. But after only 15 minutes in the relatively weak wind, the line breaks again. That means no more kiting until New Zealand. I try to bite my arse. But unfortunately my back doesn’t quite play along.
We played poker every night at the Fiji Beach House. My last game was against the boss’s daughter. Face of the young Brooke Shields in “The Blue Lagoon”, internationally booked underwear model. And nobody wanted her. Her own father spoke of her in the worst possible terms behind her back. When I lost the last hand against her, I secretly rejoiced, for the sake of the game and love and all that.
Warren also got some cards here a few days ago. Since then I’ve played three games against four other players. Two times first place, once third. Beer tastes good when you win. Purchased beer tastes better.
