Greece has produced countless gods throughout its history. There are just as many ways to live and eat here. Only the differences in quality between Greek restaurants are even greater than those between German web designers. There is everything for nothing and nothing for everything.

Normally you find the nothing for everything preferably in well-populated places. In the old town of Rhodes, you can get micro-portions of bum gyros for maxi-coal, and the ouzo always costs extra. We often ate well for little money in deserted places. Unfortunately, this is not always the rule, it also works the other way round.

Lindos is one of the three old capitals of Rhodes. Today there is an acropolis rebuilt by the Italians at the beginning of the 20th century, two beautiful crowded bays and narrow streets with 1000 tourist shops between white houses. The rest of Lindos is 100 holiday apartments, 100 restaurants and 100 bars. Only a town with a million visitors a year can manage something like this.

No matter where you look, every bar and restaurant is more beautiful than the last. Cramped, quaint, dark, light, art deco, modernist, rock and sirtaki. A bit of everything. It must be difficult to survive the nights in Lindos. Unfortunately, I can’t judge, because after a short tour we stop off at Stephany’s restaurant on the roof terrace. We have low expectations. The setting sun shines on the Acropolis.

Then the first course arrives and the grinning starts. I eat out a lot. It takes a lot to knock my socks off and send the feeling of “being six years old at the carnival” through my body in the form of an endorphin shower. Stephany’s has it all. A beautiful roof terrace, attentive but not annoying waiters, good prices and food that makes you happy. We feast on Greek starters, pitta from the charcoal grill, salads, cheese, spare ribs in honey sauce and a final walnut cake.

Food can make you stupid. Fat anyway. Honestly, if I’m ever reincarnated as an underprivileged elephant seal because of the food, it was worth it.
