I learnt something new today. It’s not just the skunk that can feel safe about its stench. Humans can now do the same. London Heathrow Airport: all passengers even have to take off their shoes for screening. It stinks, really bad. But we can feel wonderfully safe.
I’m flying over the Atlantic in a 747 for the first time, and I think it might be a good way to get in the mood for the USA to be bombarded with multimedia. But 40 video-on-demand channels seem to overtax my multitasking skills.
I zap and adjust the volume with my left hand. I use my right hand to find the perfect fit for my headphones. While I hold an open can of cola in the same hand. In keeping with the dramatic climax of the film, I test whether Coke also causes spots when applied externally: you can’t beat the feeling.
A little later, I got stuck in a New York subway turnstile with 45kg of luggage. An officer freed me. And then showed me the door that was also there. Village idiot in the city. After 3 hours I’ve now arrived at Simon’s. Everything will be fine. And it’s already beautiful. Pictures tomorrow, after the party :-)
